How long should the slalom skis be?

The answer to that question depends a bit on your own likes and tastes. Finding the right length of ski can be the difference between a successful ride and a total failure.

There are, of course, several different factors that must be taken into account. Above all, your own physique, but also how big the turning radius and what kind of riding you want to do. It is generally said that a short and soft ski is easier to turn with, which makes it easier to ride slowly. A longer and slightly harder one, on the other hand, is perceived as more stable and is often a better option for those who want to ride a little faster.

Beginners – A rule of thumb for beginners is usually to choose a ski that goes from the floor to somewhere between the chest and the chin. Because shorter skis are easier to turn, they don’t go as fast.

Experienced – Skiers who are used to standing on the slope can choose a ski that goes from the floor up to the tip of the nose. A slightly longer ski means bigger turns, which means that the ride will go a little faster.
